ART2: Ceramics 1 is a one semester course offered the first half of each school year and is the precursor to Ceramics 2, which can be taken in the spring in the 2nd half of the school year. Students will begin with basic coil and slab building methods and then work with surface and glazing techniques as well as screen printing. Many projects are large and time consuming. It is important for students to be mature and self-motivated in order to be a success in these courses. Ideally, students should take this course in 10th grade.
Studio Art is a prerequisite for this course
ART3: Ceramics 2 is a more advanced level to the Ceramics 1 course with an emphasis on pushing the students' art to the next level. Ceramics 2 will involve more work throwing on the wheel to prepare students who may want to take JCC Ceramics the next year. Ideally, students should take this course in 10th grade. (11 or 12th if student has passed the Ceramics 1 course).
