Welcome to JCC Ceramics, a college credit course. I would like to remind you, that you do NOT need to be an art major in college to use this credit. This credit can be used to take the place of an elective course for any major.
Who should take JCC Ceramics?
JCC courses are typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. Students will gain a working knowledge of fundamental and advanced studio work in clay preparation, hand building, throwing, mold making, slip casting, glaze preparation, decorating techniques, and firing techniques. There is no recommended prerequisite for this course, but I would recommend trying Ceramics 1 & 2 if you are unsure that this is a class for you! A LOT of this course is based on throwing clay on the wheel. In Ceramics 1 & 2 there will be some wheel work.
